NickJr – FreeDraw – ok, if you don’t use Christian terms

This originated from a post that referenced this blog post:

This is a link to the game – after you click play, click tools and then the A link, it will allow you to type text. Then, hit enter and see how many words you can have blocked.

I personally tried it out and it blocked Merry Christmas, but not Kwanzaa, it blocked Christian and bible, but not Moslem and Quaran.

It did block wicca, but not wiccan terms.

It blocked the individual terms, George, Bush, and of course George Bush, but not Obama, John, Mark, Matthew, jihad or terrorist.

Pope, God, Allah and Jesus are blocked.

So, what are they thinking about?

How does a child create a card for their friend, George? How do they send a Merry Christmas card – but it’s ok, they can send a Happy Qwanzaa card.

To send a message to NickJr – nickjr@nickonline.com

From the blog link, she has a link for

who I guess owns nickelodeon, NickJr, and Noggin.

Post in the comment section any other words that appear to be blocked.

Just a quick thought about this season, Mary, and our separated brethren

My oldest two are in 8th grade and part of their religious study is discussing what the term “separated brethren” means. As we discussed the term and what we share in common and what we do not, I was struck by the fact that during this season, our separted brethern finally have a period of time where they can acknowledge the mother of our savior, Mary.

So, perhaps we can take some time during this Advent to pray for our separated brethern that they might grow closer to Mary; that they might see what a wonderful role model she is for all of us.

I know Catholic mothers especially identify with her in her motherhood, but all of us would benefit from contemplating how she modeled obedience and trust in God. All of us spend time reading the nativity story and the angel and Annunciation during Advent – say an extra prayer for all those who only consider Mary during this time of the year.
